About The Position

We are a leading industrial mechanical, electrical, and civil construction services provider for the fossil and nuclear power, pulp and paper, chemical, mining, and general manufacturing industries. We provide a full range of industrial facilities maintenance and process maintenance services. It is the responsibility of the craft superintendent to plan and coordinate the efforts of those under his/her supervision and motivate them to accomplish the work safely, correctly and efficiently. Work with or supervise other crafts at levels appropriate to training and skills as requested by project supervision.

Requirements

  • Five years in craft supervision.
  • May be required to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Must posses enough strength and stamina to perform the technical duties and essential functions as identified above
  • Must be able to move in and around confided spaces and uneven areas
  • Must have full range of motion consistent with age
  • Must be able to climb and maintain balance ladders
  • Must be able to adequately hear and respond to voice commands and alerts from other employees, alarms and other job-related noises
  • Visual acuity, depth perception and color discrimination consistent with that required to work at heights and on uneven surfaces

Responsibilities

  • Will plan, inspect, verify and document scope of work.
  • Observe functioning of installed equipment or systems to determine hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
  • Identify safety hazards you or other employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards.
  • Be able to perform all of the essential functions of craft workers under his/her supervision.
  • Perform task planning to safely and efficiently carry out all aspects of that work assigned.
  • Train/teach safety practices, policies and procedures related to an employee's assigned tasks and ensure that foremen do the same. Gain a complete understanding of the scope of work and the related parts of the project.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the project plans, specifications and schedule as they relate to that portion of the work assigned; and review with foremen/leadmen at start of and throughout the project. Delegate and communicate safety concerns, work scope, plans, budgeted manhours and schedules to the foremen and leadmen.
  • Plan and communicate with the warehouse, purchasing and supervisor to assure that an adequate supply of tools, materials and equipment are available.
  • Review and approve crew's timecards for correct hours and phase coding.
  • Understand and respond appropriately to all safety hazards and warning devices (i.e. back-up alarms, smell of smoke, different colored warning tags, warning sirens).
  • Understand and implement lockout/tagout procedures in a safe manner.
