About The Position

The CPW Program Management II/Planning and Engagement Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the Planning and Engagement section within the Policy and Planning Branch of Colorado Parks & Wildlife. This role involves managing daily operations, budgeting, and guiding resource stewardship and planning efforts. The supervisor will lead a team of seven staff members, ensuring effective stakeholder engagement and social science research to inform agency decisions. The position requires a strong understanding of parks and wildlife issues, as well as the ability to coordinate projects that align with the agency's mission.

Requirements

  • Nine years of relevant experience in wildlife management, outdoor recreation, public engagement, natural sciences, social sciences, policy, planning, public administration, communications, law, biology, ecology, environmental science, or climate resilience.
  • A combination of related education and experience equal to nine years in a relevant field.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily operations of the Planning and Engagement section.
  • Determine appropriate annual budgets for the section.
  • Oversee agency resource stewardship and statewide planning efforts.
  • Guide social science research programs and stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Coordinate projects with the Assistant Director to address mission-critical needs.
  • Supervise and evaluate the work of seven staff members in the section.
  • Provide leadership and support for staff to carry out primary functions of the section.
  • Develop and manage budgets to support employee work needs.
