Student Success & Graduation continues to grow its peer mentorship program, led by trained peer mentors called Cowboy Coaches. Cowboy Coaches help students find their community, connect with resources, and achieve their academic goals. To support students finding these successes at UW, applicants should apply knowing that an applicant must have completed two full semesters at UW prior to serving as a Cowboy Coach. Students in these positions receive a competitive hourly rate of pay, with opportunities to partake in a variety of paid professional development opportunities. Cowboy Coaches are expected to work about 8-15 hours per week throughout the academic year. Cowboy Coaches are also expected to serve as Poke Pack Leaders for Saddle Up, our weeklong freshmen orientation program. During this week, overtime opportunities are available. Additionally, with professional staff guidance and support, Cowboy Coaches work with a variety of campus partners to host, run, and support a variety of campus events and initiatives. Student Success & Graduation is dedicated to supporting the diverse needs of our students. To ensure personalized and effective guidance, Cowboy Coaches are assigned to student cohorts based on academic programs aligned with students’ majors and minors. Coach assignments are determined by the specific needs of campus units and programs at the time of placement. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling, as-needed basis in alignment with those evolving needs. This application will take about 15 minutes to complete - we recommend you use your UW email while applying. Once you have submitted it, we will reach out to you to schedule an interview via the email provided in your application. Please respond to the scheduling email within one week to schedule your interview. If we do not hear from you within a week, we will assume you are no longer interested in the listed position and will remove you from consideration. We look forward to getting to know you through this process! Please feel free to reach out to project leader, Abby Markley at [email protected] if you have any questions.
