About The Position

The Coverage Specialist at KIPP Baltimore is responsible for accessing coverage plans on Google Classrooms and, when possible, meeting with teachers prior to covering their class to review the agenda. The role involves following school-wide expectations for management and behavior to maintain a safe and affirming student culture, delivering instruction as outlined by teacher plans, and collecting and saving student work to return to the absent teacher. Additionally, the Coverage Specialist will communicate with parents when necessary, support timely transitions by monitoring students in the hallways, and walking classes to and from lunch/recess. On days when the Coverage Specialist is not covering, they will observe in classrooms, attend planning and content meetings, plan with mentor teachers, monitor halls, support common spaces, and participate in arrival and dismissal duties. The position requires attendance at all professional development sessions during summer and summer school, beginning in August, as well as content and team meetings when instructed.

Requirements

  • 30 college credits; Associate’s degree or experience equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Access coverage plans on Google Classrooms
