As a Courtesy Clerk/Grocery Bagger at Food 4 Less, you will play a vital role in creating an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. Your primary responsibility will be to bag groceries at checkout for customers, ensuring that items are handled with care and that bags are packed efficiently, typically aiming for at least five items per bag. You will follow best practices for bagging items in various types of bags, including reusable, plastic, and paper, while also assisting customers in removing their merchandise from the bottom of the bascart during checkout. In addition to bagging groceries, you will be expected to offer assistance to customers by helping them load their bags into their cars. Your role will also involve performing basic shelf conditioning, informing customers of grocery specials, returning merchandise to store shelves, and gathering bascarts to return them to designated areas. Maintaining a clean and safe environment is crucial, so you will be responsible for cleaning spills, collecting trash inside the store and in the parking lot, and ensuring all areas inside and outside the store are tidy. You will also handle and assemble seasonal merchandise, understand the store's layout to locate products, and conduct price checks for cashiers. Reinforcing safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions or accidents will be part of your duties. Adhering to all food safety regulations and guidelines is essential, as is practicing preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying the appropriate department or store manager of any items needing repair. Creating a welcoming environment for customers is key, and you will achieve this by answering questions regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store. You must adhere to all local, state, and federal laws, as well as company guidelines. The ability to work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment is necessary, along with managing conflict in a reasonable and nonconfrontational manner. Honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information are paramount, as is the ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues. Additionally, you will provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
