About The Position
As a Courtesy Clerk/Grocery Bagger at Kroger, you will play a vital role in creating an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. Your primary responsibility will be to bag groceries at checkout for customers, ensuring that at least five items are placed in each bag while taking care to prevent damage to the contents. You will also assist customers by removing their merchandise from the bottom of the bascart for checkout and offering help with loading bags into their cars. This position requires you to follow best practices for bagging items in various types of bags, including reusable, plastic, and paper, to enhance the shopping experience. In addition to bagging groceries, you will perform basic shelf conditioning, inform customers of grocery specials, and return merchandise to store shelves. You will be responsible for gathering bascarts and returning them to designated areas, as well as cleaning spills and collecting trash both inside the store and in the parking lot. Maintaining a clean and safe environment is crucial, and you will be expected to clean all areas inside and outside the store, handle and assemble seasonal merchandise, and understand the store's layout to assist customers effectively. You will also reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures, identifying unsafe conditions, and notifying store management of any accidents or issues. Adhering to all food safety regulations and guidelines is essential, as is practicing preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting any items in need of repair. Your role will be instrumental in creating an environment where customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering questions regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store. Additionally, you will be responsible for reporting all safety risks or issues, including illegal activities such as robbery, theft, or fraud, while adhering to all local, state, and federal laws, as well as company guidelines.
