About The Position

As a Courtesy Clerk/Grocery Bagger at Smith's Food and Drug, you will play a vital role in creating an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. Your responsibilities will include bagging groceries at checkout, assisting customers with loading bags into their cars, and maintaining a clean and safe environment that encourages customers to return. Responsibilities

  • Bag groceries at checkout for customers, striving for at least five items in each bag while ensuring that contents are not damaged.
  • Assist in removing customer's merchandise from the bottom of the bascart for checkout.
  • Offer to help customers with loading bags into their cars.
  • Perform basic shelf conditioning and inform customers of grocery specials.
  • Return merchandise to store shelves and gather bascarts to return them to designated areas.
  • Clean spills and collect trash inside the store and parking lot.
  • Clean all areas inside and outside of the store.
  • Handle and assemble seasonal merchandise.
  • Understand the store's layout, locate products, and conduct price checks for cashiers.
  • Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and notifying store management of unsafe conditions.
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying the appropriate department or store manager of any items in need of repair.
  • Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important, and appreciated.
  • Answer questions regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store.
  • Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws, and company guidelines.
  • Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
  • Manage conflict in a reasonable, non-confrontational, and cooperative manner.
  • Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
  • Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
