About The Position

This position serves as the manager and supervisor of one or more specific division(s) within the Clerk of Court's office; overseeing operations and activities of staff that provide a variety of clerical, courtroom and other support services to the office. The role includes providing administrative support and assistance in the daily management of the court, coordinating court resources involving judges, staff, court security personnel, attorneys, litigants, and law enforcement personnel. The position also involves supervising, managing, administering, and coordinating activities of one or more departments, divisions, work units and their assigned personnel. Responsibilities include reviewing, recommending, and implementing quality control procedures to maintain compliance with statutes, rules, administrative orders, operational policies and procedures, and various state and local guidelines.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Judicial, Business, or Public Administration, or a closely related field.
  • Six (6) years progressively responsible supervisory, administrative, management experience.
  • Experience involving personnel management, budget, complex office operations, caseload management, or information systems.
  • Ability to pass criminal background checks.
  • Valid Arizona State driver's license may be required.
  • Arizona Committee on Judicial Education and Training (COJET) yearly accreditation is required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee operations and activities of staff providing clerical, courtroom, and support services.
  • Coordinate court resources involving judges, staff, court security personnel, attorneys, litigants, and law enforcement personnel.
  • Supervise and manage activities of one or more departments or divisions.
  • Participate in personnel management processes.
  • Review and implement quality control procedures for compliance with statutes and rules.
  • Gather data and produce financial and statistical studies and reports.
  • Prepare schedules, work assignments, and reports.
  • Oversee electronic filing for all case types and ensure compliance with time standards.
  • Participate in budget development and monitoring.
  • Respond to and resolve financial and non-financial issues.
  • Determine staff training needs and oversee training.
  • Review incoming pleadings for jurisdiction and compliance.
  • Prepare court documents including summons, notices, and warrants.
  • Respond to inquiries at the counter, by telephone, and in writing.
  • Identify and recommend methods to improve court management and operations.
