About The Position

The Court Services Supervisor 1 position within the New Jersey Judiciary is a full-time role focused on leading a customer service or case management team in the Civil Division. The supervisor will be responsible for monitoring, assigning, coordinating, and evaluating the work of their team, ensuring that the core values of independence, integrity, fairness, and quality service are upheld. This role involves direct interaction with self-represented litigants, attorneys, judges, and other stakeholders, requiring a strong understanding of customer service best practices and the ability to respond to customer issues professionally. The position also includes overseeing projects, developing statistical reports, and conducting performance evaluations.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree.
  • Three years of paraprofessional and/or professional experience, one year of which must include experience in calendar management, case management, enforcement of court orders, and/or supervision.
  • Ability to substitute additional experience for education on a year-for-year basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree may be substituted for one year of general experience.
  • Law degree may be substituted for two years of general experience.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, assign, coordinate, evaluate, and lead the work of a team.
  • Lead a customer service team or a case management team servicing self-represented litigants, attorneys, judges, and other stakeholders.
  • Respond quickly to customer issues in a polite, empathetic, and professional manner.
  • Ensure the core values of independence, integrity, fairness, and quality services are upheld.
  • Monitor a caseload and interact with Judges, staff, attorneys, and self-represented litigants to ensure efficient case processing.
  • Develop statistical reports and oversee projects related to case and project processes.
  • Conduct formal work performance evaluations and mediate conflicts between team members.
  • Train staff and participate in meetings and training outside of the work unit.
  • Determine appropriate services for customers and perform other related duties as required.
