About The Position

Under the general supervision of a Court Services Sergeant, this position works within the Court Services Control Center (LINK Control) where the technician monitors and controls movement in areas immediately in and around the Arapahoe County Justice Center Complex, Courthouses and the Arapahoe County Detention Facility by use of active and recorded video surveillance camera systems and radio communications. The position manages all Court Services normal and emergency radio traffic, Computer Assisted Dispatch (CAD) functions and assists in manpower allocation and management utilizing computer and radio systems. Staff uses NCIC/CCIC databases to confirm warrants, DMV vehicle and driver licensee/Identification clearances, and teletype communications with other agencies.

Requirements

  • Ability to comprehend and apply the safety, security protocols and procedures of the Arapahoe County Justice Center complexes and Detention Facility.
  • Basic understanding of officer safety.
  • Ability to operate computers and commonly used the computer software programs, as well as any other standard office equipment as required by position.
  • Ability to multi-task and stay calm during busy times or in crisis situations.
  • Ability to apply sound reasoning and decision-making.
  • Ability to verbally communicate with deputies, other law enforcement professionals, Courthouse patrons, staff and inmates in an effective manner.
  • Attention to detail when assisting the management of inmate movement within the facilities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written English language.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, other staff members and the general public.
  • Ability to cope in a safe manner with stressful situations, emotional or irate responders, and unprofessional contacts.
  • Ability to stay calm during highly stressful situations while handling numerous tasks simultaneously.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • EDUCATION: High School graduate or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • EXPERIENCE: No specific requirement.

  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience that satisfy the requirements of the job as approved by the Sheriff.
  • CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSES: None.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to obtain NCIC/CCIC certification.
  • Must be able to obtain CAD certification, as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior first responder based (LE/Fire/EMS) dispatch operations experience.
  • Two (2) years of experience working in a law enforcement agency (civilian/sworn).

Responsibilities

  • Observes security monitors to allow movement throughout the Courthouse, monitors elevator movement and the security/fire systems in the Courthouse.
  • Monitors and controls radio traffic within the Courthouse; shuts down non-emergency traffic during a crisis situation.
  • Documents significant and unusual events that happen either written or using available databases.
  • Calls for assistance and may coordinate responses in emergency situations.
  • Acts as a liaison between Court Services and the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office Communications Center in the coordination of emergency response for law enforcement calls for service, Fire Department service requests and EMS response.
  • Operates computers and standard office equipment, including commonly used computer software programs.
  • Utilizes NCIC/CCIC databases to confirm warrants, DMV vehicle and driver licensee clearances and teletype communications with other agencies.
  • Maintains regular and acceptable attendance at such level as determined at the Sheriff's Office discretion.
  • Is available and willing to work such overtime per day or per week as the Sheriff's Office determines is necessary or desirable to meet its needs.
  • Is available and willing to work such weekends and holidays as the Sheriff's Office determines are necessary to meet operational needs.
  • Performs duties onsite, except those job duties that are customarily or by nature performed offsite.
  • Follows and supports the mission, values, organizational philosophies, operational principals, code of conduct and policies and procedures of the Sheriff's Office.
