About The Position

ProSidian Seeks a Court Reporter - Court Reporting And Transcription (CRS05) (CONUS: Suffolk, Virginia | Senior Consultant - Full-Time) to support an engagement for 0. This service supports DoD/Military Sector Sector Clients (For Present / Future Requirements) and ProSidian Team Members work as part of a Engagement Team Cadre (Labor Category ) to fulfill BLD - Blended (FFP/T&M) requirements for a provide court reporting and transcription services as a Court Reporter to support an engagement for DoD/Military Sector Clients. The court reporting and transcription services shall be provided for verbal and/or verbal testimony given during Agency proceedings requiring a transcribed record. This role provides services for a branch of the U.S. Navy that is the premier provider of ocean transportation to the Department of Defense. Additionally, ProSidian Team Members work to Provide Court Reporting and Legal Transcription Services for Private Companies, Fortune 1,000 Enterprises, DoD/Military, and Government Agencies.We aspire to build and enhance an exceptional and diverse team of high-achievers who always put mission and the spirit of service first. This position aligns with functional/technical service requirements and client engagements in the DoD/Military Client Industry Sector - Defense and Military: Services And Solutions That Enable Defense And Military Agencies To Enhance Capabilities, Drive Transformation, Operate Sustainably, And Maintain Mission-Readiness. Court Reporter - Court Reporting And Transcription (CRS05) Candidates shall work to support requirements for Court Reporting And Transcription Functional Area Services and shall Perform work during regular business hours from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST, Monday through Friday. Have the flexibility to work during regular hours and, when necessary, to take testimony outside of those hours, on weekends, and on holidays. This may require coming in early or staying late. Required to participate in a separate practice technology session with Agency and all Agency designated or court/Equal Employment Office (EEO)/Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB) or other jurisdictional designated parties to the proceedings in order to test equipment capabilities prior to the actual date of required services. Provide verbatim transcription services of testimony to be taken during the following possible proceedings: fact-findings, review boards, hearings, administrative investigations, Inspector General investigations, depositions, arbitrations, and other similar legal or Inspector General proceedings requiring a transcribed record. The testimony provided may be given on a face-to-face basis or remotely via a video teleconference (VTC), by telephone, or via electronic video conferencing platforms such as Microsoft Teams or Zoom for Government, and other remote means allowed and acceptable by the Agency and the trier or tribunal of fact. Handle complex litigations and legal proceedings, and understands the necessity for discretion, confidentiality, and urgency. responsible for real-time transcription of depositions and arbitrations helping to create a world-class professional service related to Legal Transcriptionist and Court Reporting Services collaborate with others in our team, including our client contracting officer representatives, engagement team members, firm management, etc. Test our virtual litigation platform in a variety of real-world settings and provide consistent feedback and input on how to enhance the platform from the perspective of a Court Reporter Attend depositions and other proceedings (online/in-person) that require written transcripts using our new and innovative platform Provide rough drafts of transcripts to counsel and parties involved, when requested Provide real-time service during live depositions, when requested Stenographically record and produce an accurate verbatim record of all proceedings Transcribe, proof, and prepare transcripts for distribution using the required court reporting tools and platforms Maintain exhibits during depositions as needed using the required court reporting tools and platforms Partner with scopists and proofreaders for transcript completion Record verbatim proceedings of courts, legislative assemblies, committee meetings, and other proceedings using stenograph machines Prepare accurate final transcript per client's request/ Submit final ASCII via the online portal Proofread transcripts for the correct spelling of words Ask speakers to clarify inaudible statements Provide transcripts of proceedings upon request of judges, lawyers, or the public Transcribe recorded proceedings in accordance with established formats #TechnicalCrossCuttingJobs #Consulting #Jugaad #CourtReporter #CourtReporting #Legal

Requirements

  • Candidates applying for this position must have at least Two (02) Years of experience in court reporting and hold the certification as a National Court Reports Association (NCRA) Registered Professional Reporter (RPR) or equivalent (i.e., certified by the state of performance, another appropriate licensure, certification, or proof of education).
  • Proper credentials must be provided within one week upon request of the client.
  • Requires accurately reporting (taking down steno) legal proceedings at speeds of 225 words per minute and translating takedown from steno to English.
  • Working knowledge of legal and medical terminology, correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, and theories and principles of basic mathematics.
  • Knowledge and understanding of laws, rules, and regulations governing court reporting profession and transcription activities, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to use court reporting and transcription equipment.
  • Knowledge of general office practices, procedures, equipment, and technology.
  • Compliance with professional standards of the National Court Reporters Association (NCRA).
  • Maintaining exhibits and documentary evidence.
  • Communicating effectively with counsel, coworkers, supervisors, and the public.
  • The Virginia | Court Reporter shall have consecutive employment in a position with comparable responsibilities within the past five (5) years
  • Must be able to use a computer to communicate via email; and proficient in Microsoft Office Products (Word/Excel/PowerPoint) and related tools and technology required for the position.

  • Candidates must be technically proficient in the skills necessary to fulfill the government's requirements, including the ability to speak, understand, read and write English fluently.
  • Candidates must be competent, efficient, and have the experience, necessary training, and education in Court Reporting with adequate and appropriate equipment to produce accurate, timely, appropriately bound, and indexed transcribed testimony from witnesses.
  • In addition, candidates must be punctual and present at relevant proceedings, demonstrate a professional demeanor, and provide all the necessary equipment and materials to perform their duties and accomplish the deliverables.
  • Candidates must be proficient in English in order to read portions of the transcript during the proceedings at the request of the board or other presiding body and, if asked, clarify inaudible statements.
  • Candidates must be competent to administer oaths.
  • Depositions shall be transcribed by a duly authorized notary.
  • The candidate must have the flexibility to accommodate any turn-around requested by the client.
  • Work products shall be thorough, accurate, appropriately documented, and comply with established criteria.
  • Concentration: Court Reporters s must be able to concentrate for long periods. They must remain focused on the dialogue they are recording, even in the presence of auditory distractions.
  • Detail Oriented: Court Reporters must be able to produce error-free work because they create transcripts that serve as legal records.
  • Listening Skills: Court Reporters s must give their full attention to speakers and capture every word that is said.
  • Writing skills. Court Reporter s need a good command of grammar, vocabulary, and punctuation.
  • Successful candidate must be able to (with or without accommodation): (1) bend, (2) pull, push, and lift to 20 pounds, (3) reach, (4) walk, (5) stand and sit for extended periods.
  • Candidates applying for this position must have a high school diploma or equivalency and a minimum of Two (02) Years of experience in court reporting.
  • High school diploma or GED required; completion of required apprentice and internship training in court reporting, and sufficient course work to obtain certification as a professional court reporter from a recognized licensing or accrediting Agency or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • U.S. Citizenship Required - You must be a United States Citizen
