Judge Designee John Fitzgerald is looking for qualified candidates to fill an Official Court Reporter position. The primary work location is Kandiyohi County, Wilmar, MN however, the ability to travel is a requirement for this position as the court reporter will occasionally work in other counties within the Eighth Judicial District. This position is responsible for the verbatim recording and transcription of testimony from judicial proceedings, hearings, and conferences, in compliance with all applicable statutes and court rules or as directed by the appointing authority. Additionally, the court reporter serves as the judicial officer's confidential assistant. Prior to assuming the bench, Judge Designee Fitzgerald worked as the first assistant county attorney at the Meeker County Attorney’s Office, in Litchfield, Minnesota. While at that office, he handled a wide variety of criminal cases and civil matters. In pursuit of these prior duties, he worked closely with both attorneys and non-attorney support staff. Judge Designee Fitzgerald strongly believes in the importance of a work environment that emphasizes and fosters comradery, teamwork, and a mission-oriented dedication to the work of Minnesota’s judicial branch.
