About The Position

This regular full-time position recruitment is continuous and may close at anytime without notice. Candidates must possess a current Certified Shorthand Reporter (CSR) license issued by the Court Reporters' Board of California. This vacancy resides at the Metropolitan Division in Bakersfield. The salary range is $86,207.05 - $105,241.76 Annually and up to 9% premium pay for real time services and certification.

Requirements

• Possess a current Certified Shorthand Reporter (CSR) license issued by the Court Reporters' Board of California.
• Possess realtime skills.
• Possession of a valid Class C California Driver's License at the time of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Reports verbatim notes of all court proceedings; provides realtime transcription or reads back record of proceedings; asks judge and other speakers for clarification of testimony, instructions, orders or actions.
• Reads testimony aloud at the direction of the Court.
• Produces and certifies formal, written and electronic transcripts; archives court reports and transcripts; organizes and ensures official record's security.
• Receives and processes transcript requests; estimates cost of transcripts for requesting parties.
• Researches medical, legal and technical terminology as well as case citations and related information; develops and modifies custom software dictionaries; sets up and maintains court reporting, transcription and archival equipment.
• Archives notes (stenographic and voice files) on a court electronic storage system.
