The Washington County District Court, the second largest county court in the Tenth Judicial District of the Minnesota Judicial Branch, is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to fill the position of Court Operations Supervisor for the Family/Juvenile Team. The Court Operations Supervisor will oversee the operations of the Family and Juvenile Court team by directing, supervising, and coordinating staff activities to ensure the timely and accurate processing of family and juvenile cases. This position requires excellent communication skills, exceptional organizational abilities, innovative problem-solving, and the capacity to apply statutes, court rules, policies, and procedures effectively. Requirements

  • High school graduation or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of progressively responsible leadership or specialized experience in business, public administration, criminal justice, law, political science, or a closely related field.
  • Thorough knowledge of court procedures, policies, legal documents, and laws relevant to the court.
  • Understanding of the organization, operations, and jurisdiction of the court.
  • Strong supervisory and management skills.
  • Knowledge of the Minnesota Court Information System (MNCIS) or related automation technology applications.
  • Ability to multitask, learn quickly, and manage time efficiently.
  • Independent problem-solving and creative thinking.
  • Ability to make sound decisions in accordance with laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Strong record-keeping, reporting, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to plan, assign, and supervise work in a high-volume court environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to foster professional growth and mentor staff.
  • Conflict resolution skills and the ability to build positive working relationships.

Nice To Haves

  • A bachelor's degree in education, information technology, court administration, public/business administration, behavioral science, or a related field.
  • Significant experience in a trial court, law firm, or legal setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to court staff by coaching, mentoring, and facilitating constructive communication to ensure performance excellence.
  • Oversee case processing and ensure adequate courtroom support for family and juvenile hearings.
  • Assign, direct, and coordinate the work of 7 subordinate staff members.
  • Utilize performance management techniques to enhance team productivity and evaluate performance against established standards.
  • Assist with training and orientation for new staff and provide ongoing development for current staff.
  • Monitor case reports, orders, and other assignments to ensure that statutory and procedural deadlines are met.
  • Develop and recommend policies and procedures to streamline work processes and ensure compliance with statutes and regulations.
  • Provide guidance to staff, attorneys, and the public on procedural questions related to statutes, rules, and court orders.
  • Update staff on new rules and legislation affecting the division and revise related manuals as necessary.
  • Lead staff meetings and promote a culture of customer service excellence.
  • Identify and implement innovative process improvements to enhance administrative functions.
  • Collaborate with public stakeholders and document discussions at meetings.
