The Multnomah County Circuit Court is hiring a Family Law/Probate Clerk (Court Operations Specialist). In this role… You will assist the public with Family Law and Probate matters at the counter, phone, and via email. Explain court procedures to the public, attorneys, and others. Assist with operating public computer terminals. You will also review forms for completeness including signatures, certify copies, and direct customers to the appropriate courtroom. Organize, schedule, and re-schedule (if needed) the most critical and complex court dockets and other appearances among multiple parties. You will address and process difficult case management issues. This includes reviewing complex files for proper order and next appropriate action. Use the Odyssey system to enter document information including motions, affidavits, orders, judgment and satisfactions. Review and accept or reject filings through the File & Serve system utilizing the current business processes. Cross train on different tasks to assist coworkers with other duties. Assigned tasks may be changed to accommodate workload and organizational needs. We welcome all candidates who are inspired by our work and mission .

Requirements

  • The qualified candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Four (4) years of responsible administrative experience in a moderately complex office or business setting demonstrating the knowledge, skills and abilities needed for this position OR Any combination of education and experience equivalent to four (4) years of experience that typically supports the knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.
  • Experience performing a variety of clerical or administrative support tasks that included using a computer to enter and retrieve information, meeting strict deadlines, and maintaining accuracy when interrupted or distracted by a noisy work setting.
  • Experience providing customer service, in-person and over the phone, to people who may be facing challenging circumstances, high levels of stress, behavioral health issues, or trauma.
  • Experience communicating effectively, orally and in writing, to a variety of audiences.
  • Experience explaining processes, procedures, policies, or decisions on behalf of an employer.
  • Experience reviewing documents for accuracy and completeness.

Benefits

  • We pay 95% to 99% of medical insurance premiums for full-time employees [OR up to 99% of medical insurance premiums for part-time employees], including mental health coverage.
  • The hourly equivalent for this position is $26.82 - $41.61. [OR the annual salary for this position is $55,788 - $86,544.]
  • 10 paid holidays, 2 floating holidays, 3 personal business days, separate sick and vacation paid leaves (prorated for part-time employees), and other employee benefits such as optional insurances and flexible spending plans.
  • OJD will pay you a 5% allowance for bilingual skills (includes ASL) if you can pass a skills test and are assigned to use those skills on the job!
  • In this job profile, we offer candidates new to OJD up to the third step of the salary range, depending on experience.
  • You are potentially eligible for a 5% annual increase.
  • OJD is an eligible employer for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program.
