About The Position

The Fourth Judicial District is now accepting applications for a Court Operations Associate in the Civil Division – Judgments. Judgments Unit: Responsible for processing and docketing both monetary and non-monetary judgments. This includes entering judgments based on judicial orders as well as defaults filed by plaintiffs in administrative cases. This AFSCME-represented position is classified as Court Operations Associates. The Civil Division works individually and together as a team to provide excellent customer service to court users, many of whom are self-represented litigants, while using available resources to perform a variety of administrative assignments that require strong attention to detail and technological skills to match our fast-paced, high-volume, electronic environment. The Civil Division is located on the third floor of the Hennepin County Government Center at 300 S. 6th Street, Minneapolis, MN 55487. Core business hours are 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday; but may vary depending on business need. Staff in this position are currently working both on-site and remotely, which may change depending on assignments and/or business need. A reliable internet connection will be required if working remotely. Training is done on-site.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and one (1) year of relevant job experience OR equivalent amount of post-high school education and experience totaling one (1) year.
  • Examples of relevant job experience: customer service, administrative work, office and clerical work.
  • Access to reliable internet connection is required for remote work.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and working experience with Minnesota Court Information System (MNCIS), eFile and Serve (EFS), and SharePoint.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with the ability to learn other job-related software.
  • Experience with electronic document applications, workflow queues and web-based video and audio platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of administrative tasks, such as managing case information, entering data, and recording financial transactions using specialized court software.
  • Provide information regarding cases, court procedures, forms and documents, and court information over the phone, at the public counter, in writing and in the courtroom.
  • Review legal documents submitted for timeliness, completeness, accuracy, and statutory compliance.
  • Determine processing required and takes necessary action in accordance with court rules and procedures.
  • Review documents for appropriate security classification.
  • Maintain court record confidentiality in compliance with statutes and court rules.
  • Provide courtroom support by working and corresponding with judicial officers, court reporters, and other court users to effectively manage court calendars and meet the business needs of the court.
  • Conduct administrative hearings regarding cost applications and financial disclosure forms.
  • Coordinate, communicate, and collaborate on work with team members to ensure efficient and accurate case processing.
