The Marion County Circuit Court is hiring a Criminal Annex Clerk (Court Operations Associate) to join our team at the Marion County Criminal Court Annex (4000 Aumsville Highway SE, Salem, OR 97317). In this role, you will help attorneys, litigants, agencies, and the public by answering questions about criminal and traffic violation case management and processing. The support you provide will be over the phone and in person. You will also open new criminal and traffic case files, perform data entry, and accept case filings from the online filing system. You will schedule criminal hearings, coordinate multiple dockets, and handle criminal pleadings. You may be required to enter the jail to interview adults in custody to determine if they are eligible for court appointed attorneys. Part of your time may be spent processing transport orders and mail. Additionally, you will attend court to support a judge or hearings referee by operating recording equipment, preparing forms, managing exhibits, coordinating parties’ actions, and ensuring that accurate records are maintained and that the courtroom is secure. At the public counter, you will help customers by processing payments and paperwork, reviewing applications for court appointed counsel, and checking in parties for court. Assigned tasks may be changed to accommodate workload and organizational needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least three (3) or more years of responsible experience in a moderately complex office or business setting involving the processing of financial, administrative, or legal documents.
  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to three (3) years of experience that typically supports the knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.
