About the position

The Court Executive 1B-EEO/AA Officer is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the Judiciary's Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action (EEO/AA) policies. This role involves investigating discrimination and sexual harassment complaints, conducting workforce analysis, and ensuring compliance with state and federal anti-discrimination laws. The position also includes community outreach, training development, and serving as a resource for judges and staff. The role is crucial in fostering a fair and inclusive work environment within the New Jersey Judiciary.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate discrimination and sexual harassment complaints made by employees, job applicants, or court users.
  • Implement the Judiciary's EEO/AA Master Plan and update the Vicinage EEO/AA Implementation Plan.
  • Conduct statistical workforce analysis and prepare corresponding reports.
  • Conduct recruitment and community outreach activities.
  • Develop and provide training on EEO/AA issues.
  • Staff the Vicinage EEO/AA Advisory Committee.
  • Monitor employment practices and procedures continuously, including recruitment, selection, hiring, and promotions.
  • Advise senior management on compliance with anti-discrimination laws and EEO/AA policies.
  • Prepare reports, proposals, and guidelines as required.
  • Conduct inquiries, mediation, counseling, and conflict management sessions to resolve workplace issues.
  • Build positive working relationships with judges, management, and staff.
  • Supervise, mentor, and coach staff.
  • Coordinate vicinage and community events related to EEO/AA and diversity.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree.
  • Three years of professional administrative experience, including experience in administering EEO/AA plans and conducting investigations.
  • Experience in recruitment and outreach activities.
  • Ability to conduct statistical analysis and prepare reports.

  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
