About The Position

The Administrative Office of the Courts is the operational arm of the Judicial Branch. The court system employs nearly 3,300 personnel who support 406 elected justices, judges, and circuit court clerks. The Department of Family and Juvenile Services has an immediate need for a Court Designated Specialist. This position is in Grant County. The Court Designated Specialist will perform specialized intake work in cases of youth deemed high needs or unsuccessful in the diversion process; to provide technical support and feedback for CDWS and the judiciary on public and status cases.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • NONE experience
  • Job requires general knowledge of the concepts of youth delinquency and the juvenile justice process; interpersonal communication and writing skills; ability to review and evaluate youth case plans analytically and develop plans for improvement, experience in research and coordination of resources for youth; participation in multi-disciplinary team meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Receives public and status offense complaints against juveniles.
  • Arranges placements for juveniles taken into custody by law enforcement officers.
  • Conducts preliminary inquiry on complaints filed against juveniles.
  • Recommends formal processing or informal disposition.
  • Formulates and supervises diversion agreements.
  • Maintains records.
  • Keeps statistical information.
  • Other duties as assigned.
