SALARY RANGE: $48,243.00 - $73,617.00 Superior Court 33, serving Davidson County, seeks a qualified individual to provide administrative and case management duties for the Superior Court Judges.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of: court system and legal office practices and procedures.
  • Skills in: case management; organization; entering data quickly and with accuracy; and Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to: explain office and court procedures, and regulations to the public; analyze and interpret facts or program information to make necessary decisions with accuracy; work independently in administering or coordinating special court programs; accurately spell and apply proper grammar; work well with others; speak and understand a language other than English; and organize and complete work by specific deadlines.
  • Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in court administration, criminal justice, public administration, business, or a related field, and one year of experience in the court system to acquire the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the work described; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Compose and prepare a variety of materials including correspondence, reports and legal documents.
  • Track status of cases, prepare and distribute periodic reports in cases, and answer questions regarding the status of cases.
  • Screen callers and visitors, answer inquiries, secure and give information.
  • Screen and route mail according to contents of communication including email.
  • Copy, file and retrieve materials and perform periodic follow up.
  • Order and distribute office supplies and equipment.
  • Reconcile county-issued credit card with invoices of purchases.
  • Order letterhead and envelopes and business cards.
  • Communicate and coordinate with law enforcement officers during and after work hours who need a judge to sign search warrants.
  • Prepare continuing education reports.
  • Prepare travel reimbursement requests.
  • Attend meetings as assigned.
  • Keep order of books and statutes in library and superior court courtrooms.
  • Schedule appointments and meetings, make travel arrangements, and maintain administrative records for the office.
  • Prepare orders and draft correspondence as directed by the judges.
  • Prepare Grand Juror packets.
  • Prepare annual master calendar and distribute.
  • Submit maintenance repair requests to Support Services.
  • Submit equipment requests to AOC and requests for repairs of equipment.
  • Respond to all correspondence from inmates and disseminate to proper persons.
  • Maintain current court appointed lists and prepare letters of addition to or removal of to the proper persons following communication with District IDS Committee.
  • Coordinate courtrooms.
  • Coordinate resident and visiting court reporters.
  • Prepare annual schedule for resident court reporter.
  • Maintain roster of District Bar members and their contact information.
  • Review tasks in queues and forward to appropriate judge.
  • File search warrants with the Clerk of Court.
  • Keep bailiffs apprised of visiting court reporters and changes in presiding judges.
  • Email visiting judges pertinent information about the courthouses prior to their session of court (courthouse address, parking information, security, etc.).
  • Communicate with NC Judicial Fellowship to coordinate Motions for Appropriate Relief and Orders.
  • Prepare notebooks with course materials for judges.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Senior Resident Superior Court Judge, Resident Superior Court Judge and Court Manager.
