About The Position

The Court Conciliator facilitates problem-solving events within the child welfare system for the Juvenile Department of the Superior Court of Arizona in Maricopa County. Core responsibilities include conducting Preliminary Protective Conferences, dependency mediations, and prevention staffings. This role is essential in supporting timely case processing assisting with ensuring services are set up for the family and removing any potential barriers for the family in the participation of services. In addition to facilitating and mediating dependency and other juvenile court cases, this Court Conciliator will play a vital role in expanding prevention services by serving as a liaison between the Arizona’s Department of Child Safety (DCS) and the Superior Court of Arizona in Maricopa County in order to enhance communication, program support, and data sharing. They will be responsible for the administration of prevention programs, including the Dependency Alternative Program (DAP) and Dependency Prevention Staffing (DPS) program.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Legal Studies, Social Work, Public Administration, Education, Psychology, Criminal Justice or a related field.
• Two (2) years of child welfare, family case management, alternative dispute resolution, or mediation/negotiation experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Legal Studies, Social Work, Public Administration, Education, Psychology, Criminal Justice or a related field and four (4) years of child welfare, family case management, alternative dispute resolution, or mediation/negotiation experience.

Responsibilities

• Works in close collaboration with parents, family members, Department of Child Safety Case Managers, service providers and family resource centers to provide timely permanency outcomes.
• Works collaboratively to ensure permanency goals and case plans are being met.
• Develops and maintains a database of community resources.
• Assists families with determining and utilizing appropriate resources in the community.
• Conduct Preliminary Protective Conferences, dependency mediations, and prevention staffings with parents, attorneys, DCS, and other system partners.
• Act as a liaison between DCS and the Court to support prevention initiatives and improve interagency communication.
• Serve as a point of contact with DCS to quickly obtain key case information (e.g., case plan requirements, parent participation, family time details) to share with the Family Treatment Court when there are barriers reaching the assigned Specialist.
• Attend specialty court staffings to provide confirmation of the current DCS Specialist assigned to the case, along with their contact information.
• Facilitate family engagement and support permanency goals through collaborative case planning.
• Develop, implement, and monitor the Dependency Alternative Program (DAP) and Dependency Prevention Staffing (DPS) program.
• Prepare documentation and updates for the Court, including memoranda and agreements.
• Coordinate joint trainings and professional development for Court and DCS staff.
• Collect and analyze data on mediation outcomes, referrals, and program effectiveness.
• Manages daily conciliation calendars and ensures session integrity.
