About The Position

The Course Accessory Technician, under the supervision of the Greens Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent, performs routine manual labor involved in golf course maintenance; do semi-skilled construction and maintenance work; operates small hand-powered equipment; and occasionally performs work involving large equipment such as riding mowers and loaders. This role is specifically responsible for maintenance and upkeep of all course accessories throughout the property.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Previous golf course maintenance experience preferred.
  • Able to effectively and safely operate mowers, power tools, utility carts, weed eaters, and shovels/hand tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow directions.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to follow oral and written directions.
  • This position requires a flexible schedule for working evenings, weekends, and all holidays as determined by business needs.
  • Required to stand for long periods and walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch and twist or reach.
  • Must be able to lift, pull, push, and carry at least 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of environmental conditions, including both hot and cold temperatures, indoors and outdoors, including inclement (non-threatening) weather conditions.
  • Seeing and hearing: read documents, communicate in person.
  • Dexterity: utilizing phone, typing, writing and driving.
  • Must be able to withstand some continuous repetitive physical motion.
  • Work hours include early mornings and possible evenings on weekdays, weekends and holidays.
  • Works with golf course maintenance equipment containing moving mechanical parts.
  • May be exposed to plant protection products, fertilizers, misdirected golf balls, and sharp and rapid equipment movement daily.

Responsibilities

  • Daily cleaning and upkeep of all course accessories.
  • Sets tee markers daily; maintains ball washers; replaces tee towels and flags when needed; removes debris; sands and seeds tee and drop areas.
  • Operates mowers and string trimmers in trimming greens, aprons, tees, around trees, fence lines, banks and hillsides; edges cart paths; edges, rakes and maintains sand bunkers.
  • Under the direction of the Greens Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent, the Course Accessory Technician marks the course for cart control weekly; moves or replaces cart control barriers and may mark hazard and drop areas.
  • Ensures that all areas around trees, bunkers, cart paths, signs and other golf course features are maintained and edged.
  • Cleans, fuels, and stores equipment after each use.
  • Refreshes oil and other lubricants as directed by the equipment technician.
  • Reports equipment problems promptly to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Must be well mannered, always display a smile, greet members, guests and fellow employees when encountered, show appreciation to the members and the guests, and demonstrate a willingness to always help members and guests.
  • Possesses an understanding of the importance of safety and sees that safe operation procedures are observed in all daily activities.
  • Adheres to the safety program.
  • Regular and punctual attendance on site for all scheduled shifts is required.
