About The Position
Corewell Health is a not-for-profit health system that is dedicated to providing exceptional healthcare and coverage through a collaborative and innovative approach. The Courier position is essential to the operations of the Corewell Laboratory, ensuring that client reports and supplies are accurately sorted and distributed. This role is based at the Troy hospital and involves the prompt pick-up of client specimens, responding to requests for stat service, and providing courteous service to meet the needs of Corewell Laboratory clients. The courier will utilize handheld devices to record all pick-up and delivery transactions, ensuring that all processes are efficient and accurate. In this role, the courier will be responsible for picking up specimens and packages from Corewell Laboratory clients, verifying the specimens at pick-up, and delivering them to designated Corewell Hospital Laboratory locations. The courier will also accept supplies, load them into vehicles, and deliver them to various Corewell Outreach clients and hospital departments. Additionally, the courier will be tasked with picking up sharps containers, filling out disposal manifests, and returning supplies as needed. A critical aspect of this position is the ability to provide stat pick-up service, with a turnaround time expectation of 90% delivery to any Corewell Laboratory for processing within two hours. The courier will also create containers for Anatomic Pathology and various Lab Departments, delivering containers that consist of biopsies, slides, and other shared specimens for processing. Participation in vehicle maintenance programs may also be required, along with other duties as assigned. This position is vital to maintaining the flow of operations within the laboratory and ensuring that client needs are met promptly and efficiently.
