About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Laboratory Manager, retrieves specimens, delivers supplies and lab reports and provides other transport to and from Marshall Medical Centers and other locations as needed. Assures proper operation, maintenance and care of the transport vehicle. Lake Guntersville, a mountain-lakes jewel, is located approximately 30 miles from metro Huntsville – and is home to Marshall Medical Centers. Requirements

  • Prefer high school diploma or equivalent (i.e. GED)
  • 1 to 2 months on-the-job training under direct supervision is the usual way in which the technique is learned.
  • Ability and license to operate an automobile. Good driving record.
  • Good general condition.
  • Verbal ability to communicate with healthcare workers instructions and other information.
  • Numerical ability to calculate by formula.
  • Form perception, visual acuity in the color spectrum to perform duties.
  • Dependable.
  • Maintain driving record meeting all MMC insurance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Drives courier car and picks up specimens at Marshall Medical Centers and other locations as needed.
  • Receives orders for supplies, gathers and delivers supplies.
  • Assures that courier car is cleaned, washed and serviced as needed.
  • Receives incoming calls and disperses to appropriate departments.
  • Delivers mail to and picks up mail from the mail room.
  • Perform clerical duties (registration, checking charges, scanning, indexing, printing results, faxing reports) as necessary.
  • Maintains good relationship between laboratories and other pickup/delivery sites.
  • Maintains good relations with co-workers and other depts. of both Medical Centers.
