About The Position

The Florida Department of Health is seeking an experienced and visionary public health leader to serve as the County Health Department Administrator/Director for Monroe County. This executive-level position provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for one of Florida’s 67 County Health Departments, ensuring the delivery of essential public health services and programs that protect and promote the health of all residents. As the lead public health official in the county, you will: • Direct and oversee a comprehensive portfolio of public health programs, including:o Communicable Disease Controlo Environmental Public Healtho Community Health Initiativeso Emergency Preparedness and Responseo Vital Statistics • Manage resources effectively, including an annual operating budget of approximately $9.2 and a dedicated team of 61 full-time staff. • Provide strategic direction to senior leadership and managers to ensure alignment with state and county objectives. • Advise County Administration, elected officials, and community partners on public health policies, emerging issues, and program development. • Foster partnerships with government agencies, private organizations, community stakeholders, and staff to strengthen public health infrastructure and outcomes. • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations while promoting innovation and continuous improvement in service delivery. The salary range for a Director candidate is $170,000 to $200,000 annually.
