About The Position

The County Extension Agent for Family Community Health at Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service is responsible for implementing, planning, and evaluating educational programs and activities related to health and community well-being in Burnet County. This role involves collaboration with local volunteers, agencies, and organizations to enhance community health initiatives and support the development of youth through programs like 4-H. The agent will also focus on chronic disease prevention, nutrition, and mental health, ensuring that educational efforts are impactful and aligned with community needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Ability to use word processing, spreadsheets, and graphic software.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain appropriate communications with county, district, and administrative staffs to facilitate comprehensive understanding of the county program.
  • Identify, recruit, train, and utilize local volunteer leaders to enable them to effectively perform their duties.
  • Utilize evaluation data and program outcomes to interpret program impacts to elected officials, key leaders, and stakeholders.
  • Conduct multiple interpretation events for county and state elected officials to report on program accomplishments and outcomes.
  • Develop a long-range professional improvement plan with the appropriate District Extension Administrator.
  • Develop annual individual development plans addressing short-term professional improvement needs and career goals.
  • Participate in formal and informal training opportunities to increase knowledge and skills.
  • Participate in recruiting, employing, and training support staff in accordance with Equal Employment Opportunity policies.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews with support staff members.
  • Plan educational programs and activities with committees and organizations.
  • Develop comprehensive program plans addressing critical issues and clientele needs.
  • Implement planned educational programs and activities in assigned program areas.
  • Provide leadership in implementing educational programs addressing critical issues and emerging needs.
  • Utilize various teaching methods and materials in conducting educational programs.
  • Prepare monthly, annual, and special reports demonstrating program impact.
