About The Position

The County Extension Agent for 4-H and Youth Development in San Patricio County is responsible for implementing, planning, and evaluating educational programs and activities focused on youth development. This role involves collaboration with local volunteers, agencies, and organizations to enhance community engagement and support for 4-H programs. The agent will also conduct training, manage program evaluations, and maintain effective communication with various stakeholders to ensure the success of the county's educational initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Ability to use word processing, spreadsheets, and graphic software.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain appropriate communications with county, district, and administrative staffs to facilitate comprehensive understanding of the county program.
  • Identify, recruit, train, and utilize local volunteer leaders for committees, clubs, and organizations.
  • Utilize evaluation data and program outcomes to interpret program impacts to elected officials, key leaders, and stakeholders.
  • Conduct multiple interpretation events for county and state elected officials to report on program accomplishments and outcomes.
  • Develop a long-range professional improvement plan with the appropriate District Extension Administrator and input from Regional Program Leaders.
  • Develop annual individual development plans addressing short-term professional improvement needs and career goals.
  • Participate in formal and informal training opportunities to increase knowledge and skills.
  • Participate in recruiting, employing, training, and related activities for support staff.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews with support staff members.
  • Plan educational programs and activities with committees and organizations.
  • Develop comprehensive in-depth and outreach program plans addressing critical issues and clientele needs.
  • Plan evaluation strategies for in-depth programs and significant program activities.
  • Implement planned educational programs and activities in assigned program areas.
  • Provide leadership or support in implementing educational programs addressing critical issues and emerging needs.
  • Utilize various teaching methods and materials in conducting educational programs.
  • Prepare monthly, annual, and special reports demonstrating program impact and accomplishments.
