About The Position

The Counterparty & Credit Risk Consultant will provide governance oversight for counterparty and country risk, as well as ad hoc responsibilities for credit risk management, which may include large financial institution preparedness, credit risk issues management, and partnering across the three lines of defense to uplift capabilities and deliver sustainable outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor (4-year college) degree
  • 10+ years of relevant experience within the banking or financial services industries
  • Working knowledge of banking and financial markets and associated regulations that pertain to an institution’s financial risk management (counterparty risk experience a plus)
  • Ability to analyze, simplify and summarize lengthy and complex materials (e.g., regulatory guidance, market research/studies, economic insights, industry analysis, etc.)
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with data management software and tools (e.g., SAS, SQL, R, etc.) a plus

Responsibilities

  • Monitor daily exposures to counterparties from different lines of business within the Company and its subsidiaries
  • Perform ongoing monitoring of counterparties credit quality and financial condition
  • Compile data from various teams and subsidiaries with counterparty exposure to ensure comprehensive and accurate tracking
  • Ensure that an assessment of financial condition is conducted on counterparties before an exposure is established
  • Propose and maintain counterparty limits based on the Company’s overall risk appetite
  • Assess current-state practices against heightened standards expectations and assist in executing the roadmap to uplift counterparty and credit risk capabilities
  • Enhance risk identification, aggregation, risk appetite linkage, stress testing, governance, documentation, and independent challenge practices
  • Partner with Internal Audit and Compliance on issues and recommendations; ensure durable fixes and prevention of recurrence
  • Help coordinate preparation for supervisory exams and horizontal reviews; manage information requests, trackers, and submissions
  • Monitor market and regulatory conditions and assess potential risk exposures
  • Prepare risk reports and analysis for senior management and various committees
  • Respond to ad hoc requests from the business units, risk management teams, or regulators
