About The Position

The Counter Sales Specialist is responsible for coming to work as a friendly associate ensuring each customer receives amazing service following the Van Marcke standards. Aiding customers by answering any questions they may have and helping them locate the merchandise they are looking for. They will assist in the receiving, stocking, pricing of all merchandise and help maintain a clean and orderly store. Performs all duties in a store POS checkout environment.

Requirements

  • Work ethic- team player willing to go above and beyond.
  • Education/Training: High School degree, some college preferred.
  • Possess product knowledge of hardware-related and/or plumbing products along with a willingness to learn.
  • Previous experience in a retail environment either in sales or merchandising roles.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekday and weekend shifts to meet the needs of the business.
  • Ability to travel to other store locations if needed.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds frequently to load and unload customer orders.
  • Ability to stand for an extended period.
  • Move and handle boxes of merchandise and fixtures throughout the store, which entails lifting and perform all functions as set forth.
  • All New Hires will be trained in assisting customers from start to finish. (This includes completing a purchase using our POS system)

Responsibilities

  • All duties within the store as trained and direct by the store manager.
  • Ensure that each customer receives outstanding guest service by providing a friendly environment which includes greeting and acknowledging every person, maintaining outstanding standards, solid product knowledge and all other components of guest service.
  • Monitors the unloading of all materials into the facility; ensures materials are staged for counting and inspection; ensures receiving reports accurately report material received.
  • Ensures materials are stored properly to conserve space and comply with safety procedures.
  • Oversees the rotation of inventories within the store.
  • Resolves discrepancies with accounting regarding invoices, packing slips, and receiver reports.
  • Monitors the flow of paperwork, performs inventory control with timely data entry.
  • Control inventory shrink, expenses and payroll.
  • Ensure appropriate merchandise stock levels, merchandise adjacencies and presentations; signing, and assortment in all departments; ensure selling floor is adequately stocked.
  • Comparison shop and report results; share information with Regional Manager and suggest appropriate price adjustments.
  • Review department/store trends and recommend and initiate changes for maximizing goals and objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures through regular store staff meetings, store walk-through and audits, etc.
  • Access inventory information and process sales through our computerized point of sale.
  • Answer incoming phone sales calls.
  • Facilitate special orders for store.
  • Pull customer orders.
  • Stocking / Replenish out of stock items (down stocking).
  • Ensure cleanliness of the store: Taking out the trash, dust and mop floors, clean restroom, associate room, and clean stockroom.
  • Learn and follow company policies, established safety rules and safe work practices.
  • Reports accidents immediately to a manager.
  • Other duties as assigned by upper management.
