Counter Sales Associate
About The Position
Be part of something exciting at Porter Pipe & Supply! This position is based in Indianapolis, IN, where you’ll join a thriving team. As a member of our Counter Sales Representative team, you’ll play a pivotal role in providing excellent customer service at our Will Call counter while utilizing your knowledge of pipes, valves, and fittings to assist mechanical and plumbing contractors. Requirements
- Strong knowledge of pipes, valves, and fittings
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to build rapport with both internal and external customers
- Positive attitude and ability to work independently and on a team
- Comfort operating fabrication equipment and basic warehouse machinery
- Strong mathematical aptitude and ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities
- Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office products
- High School Diploma or GED required
Nice To Haves
- 3 years of PVF distribution experience preferred
- Previous SX Enterprise experience preferred but not required
- Point-of-sale computer experience preferred but not required
- Prior forklift experience preferred but not required
Responsibilities
- Make product recommendations and assist customers with PVF products
- Handle cash, check, and credit card sales using CSD/TWL
- Prepare routine reports and file sales records
- Operate dolly, pallet jack, forklift, and shrink wrap machine as needed
- Assist in warehouse duties, loading and packing customer vehicles
- Follow departmental policies, procedures, and continuous quality improvement objectives
- Operate fabrication equipment as required
- Adhere to all company safety rules and guidelines
- Perform other duties as assigned
