Role Purpose: The Counter Sales Associate is responsible for processing customer orders received in person, by phone, fax, e-mail, or other means. Orders may be purchased on an account, or paid by credit card, cash, or check. This role requires strong customer service, product knowledge, and order processing skills. Associates are also expected to support warehouse operations and uphold company quality and safety standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two or more years of work experience in warehouse operations required.
  • Excellent communications skills with the ability to interact with customers in a professional manner.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, organizing, prioritizing and completing tasks.
  • Basic PC skills with MS Office products required.

Nice To Haves

  • Two or more years’ working knowledge of internal operations and products authorized to be distributed preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Enter customer order into the business system.
  • Complete order by filling, checking and processing order.
  • Maintain a balanced cash drawer.
  • Provide customers with basic technical support.
  • Handle incoming returns from customers and forwards to returns department.
  • Assist in processing returns when requested by CSRM Processor, Operations Manager or Branch Manager.
  • Re-stock material that is not sold daily.
  • Frequently lift, carry or otherwise move and position product weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted when stocking, loading or unloading products.
  • Operate forklift: proper training and certification required. May also use material handling equipment (including pallet jack, dollies and handcart.
  • Assist in maintaining a neat & professional counter area including general housekeeping as needed.
  • Assist in daily warehouse operations when requested by leader/supervisor/manager.
  • Make urgent pick-ups and deliveries as directed by the Construction Sales Supervisor, Operations Manager or Branch Manager.
  • Assist in creating, implementing and revising procedures and work instructions.
  • Support the quality initiatives set forth by the Region.
