Be part of something exciting at Porter Pipe & Supply! This position is based in Chicago, IL, in the West Loop neighborhood, where you will join a thriving team. As a member of our Counter Sales Team, you’ll play a pivotal role in maintaining our culture of providing ridiculously good customer service. Our Counter Sales Representative is required to have experience with pipes, valves, and fittings (PVF) and a strong understanding of mechanical and plumbing needs.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• 3+ years of experience in PVF distribution preferred
• Prior experience with CSD/TWL and POS systems
• Previous forklift operation experience
• Strong knowledge of pipes, valves, and fittings (PVF)
• Great customer service skills
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
• Friendly, approachable demeanor with strong communication skills
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
• Computer proficiency, especially in Microsoft Office
• Basic math aptitude and familiarity with POS systems
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 50 lbs.
• Must have adequate visual, hearing, and speech acuity
• Able to stand and walk long distances for extended periods
• Comfortable working in various environmental conditions including temperature extremes, noise, and fumes

Nice To Haves

• Forklift experience a plus

Responsibilities

• Assist customers with PVF product selections and technical support at the counter
• Troubleshoot customer applications and offer expert solutions
• Use CSD/TWL for all cash, check, and credit card sales transactions
• Prepare reports and maintain accurate sales records
• Operate material handling equipment including dollies, pallet jacks, and forklifts
• Load customer vehicles and ensure safe packing of products
• Support warehouse operations and fabrication when needed
• Adhere to all safety procedures and company policies
