About The Position

USD 480 in Liberal, KS, is currently accepting applications for the position of Elementary Counselor for the 2026-2027 School Year Up to $5,000 sign-on bonus. Immediate Supervisor : Building Principal/Assistant Principal Qualifications: The counselor will meet all qualifications and behavior standards as set by the Kansas Department of Education. In accordance with certification requirements and the performance expectations of U.S.D. #480, all counselors shall meet the following employment criteria: The minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university. A valid Kansas Teacher’s Certificate (applicable level-area endorsements preferred). ESOL Endorsement preferred ( $500.00 annual stipend bonus for Kansas ESOL licensed employees)

Requirements

Responsibilities

Modifies counseling to meet individual student needs
Develops and presents structured classroom guidance sessions
Assists with the orientation of pupils new to the district or school
Assists in the registration and enrollment of students
Assists in the implementation of the district assessment program
Interprets test data to faculty and administration
Works with students on an individual and small group basis
Demonstrates an understanding of how students develop and learn
Communicates high expectations to all students
Possesses effective problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
Collaborates with all stakeholders
Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability when dealing with all stakeholders
Clearly and effectively conveys ideas and thoughts to others
