Requirements
Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW) preferred, or a Master's Degree with a major in guidance and counseling.
Arizona Guidance Counselor Certification is required.
Three years of experience at the elementary level is preferred.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with administrators and teachers to determine the appropriate program of study to meet the specific needs of all students.
Establish learning objectives which include the current District guidelines and objectives.
Implement developmentally appropriate and prevention-oriented group activities to meet student needs and school goals.
Motivate students to maximize their learning potential and ensure that all students have successful experiences.
Maintain high expectations for all students.
Provide professional development opportunities to staff on positive effective classroom management procedures which are in compliance with school and District guidelines.
Monitor students' academic performance, behavior, and attendance, and facilitate appropriate interventions.
Maintain appropriate logs, student records, and other documentation related to students receiving services.
Communicate effectively and consistently with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators.
Collaborate with social services and other community agencies, in order to provide referrals for parents and students in crisis.
Conduct a yearly program evaluation to review the extent of program implementation and effectiveness.
Ensure confidentiality of all students' information.
Attend staff in-service meetings, workshops, and school functions as directed.
Continue to grow professionally through appropriate staff development opportunities.
Perform other duties as assigned.
