About The Position

SEASONAL CAMP COUNSELOR Starting at $14.00/hour GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB The counselor's basic responsibility is to provide an atmosphere of good, clean, spring/summer fun to enhance the personal growth of each camper in his or her group. To assist in this growth, counselors should constantly demonstrate care and concern for the campers. Counselors use the program activities to help develop new skills and interests and satisfy the need for achievement and recognition in the campers. Counselors serve as a role model for the campers by demonstrating responsible, mature behavior.

Requirements

• Graduation from or attending high school (minimum age of 16), plus any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
• Must be responsible and reliable.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate activities for assigned group(s) of kids.
• Monitor children’s behavior and follow guidelines for disciplinary action as directed by Recreation Supervisor.
• Pay attention at all times to ensure safety of children.
• Maintain a positive attitude in front of campers and their parents.
• Remember, you are who they trust their children’s care to and you also represent the City of Cocoa Beach.
