About The Position

A nonprofit founded in 1969 in Charlotte, North Carolina, we have since grown to be one of the largest providers of comprehensive substance use disorder treatment in western North Carolina. From initial assessment to customized aftercare, McLeod Centers provides compassionate, steadfast support for our patients’ journey to recovery. We are looking for passionate people to join our team! McLeod Centers for Wellbeing is currently seeking a Full-Time Counselor to join our Residential team in Charlotte, NC. How will you help us achieve our mission? You will: Provide evidence-based assessment, counseling, and education services to individuals experiencing mental health and substance use disorders within your scope of certification or licensure. Collaborate with clients to develop individualized treatment and discharge plans that promote sustainable recovery. Monitor and evaluate client progress, adapting treatment approaches and recommending appropriate levels of care when needed. Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic health record system. Present and staff cases with the multidisciplinary treatment team as appropriate. Provide education and support to family members to strengthen recovery outcomes. Coordinate referrals and collaborate with internal and external support services to ensure comprehensive care. Assist with documentation required for treatment authorizations. Participate in required clinical supervision and ongoing professional development. Adhere to all agency, state, and federal regulations, policies, and ethical guidelines.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Addiction Studies, or a related discipline (requirements vary based on licensure or certification).
  • Valid North Carolina license or associate status as one of the following: LCAS, LCMHC, LMFT, or LCSW OR
  • Valid CADC certification or Intern status recognized by NCASPPB (or a reciprocal state).
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage complex or emotionally sensitive situations with professionalism and sound judgment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, etc.)
