About The Position

Provides professional mental health counseling and consultation services for the campus community, incorporates a brief therapeutic model to address the emotional and behavioral needs of students, creates developmental programming to increase healthy lifestyle and coping behaviors across campus, and provides strategic direction and advocacy for university mental health policy and initiatives.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in counseling, social work, or related field, PhD, or PsyD in clinical or counseling psychology or related field, at time of appointment
  • A current Wisconsin license (LPC, LCSW, LMFT, Psychologist) at time of employment (08/17/2026) or ability to be fully licensed in the state of WI within 2 years of hire)
  • 1 year of related behavioral health experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage, as applicable, in prevention/education, assessment, DSM-V diagnosis, treatment planning, and counseling intervention activities
  • Skilled in individual and group counseling techniques, evaluation of counseling effectiveness, and in group presentations
  • Working knowledge of desktop hardware and standard business software programs (e.g. word processing, spreadsheets, database) and the Internet

Nice To Haves

  • A current Wisconsin license (LPC, LCSW, LMFT, Psychologist)
  • Experience working with young adults or in a university setting
  • 2 years of related behavioral health experience
  • Experience in working with issues related to: sexual assault, relationship violence, suicide prevention, LGBTQ, multicultural counseling, alcohol and drug abuse and academic success

Responsibilities

  • Prepares presentations and outreach activities and facilitates student adjustment and success programs to promote a healthy campus
  • Facilitates psycho-educational and process-oriented groups
  • Provides counseling and/or information and referral services to faculty and staff
  • Serves on multidisciplinary campus committees
  • Provides individual and group counseling to students struggling with developmental and/or personal mental health issues and refers students to appropriate community resources
