Requirements
All candidates must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practice within the classroom
Master’s in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy or marriage, family and child counseling
A bachelor’s degree in one of the listed degrees and a license as a Marriage and Family Therapist ( MFT ) is an alternative qualification for this discipline
A valid California Community College Credential
The equivalent education and/or experience (requires an equivalency)

Recent experience working with African American, Asian/Pacific Islander, Latinx, Native American, and other racially minoritized students in the classroom and an understanding of how historical patterns of exclusion of these groups in higher education shape patterns of participation and outcomes
Experience working with students of various cultural, gender, age, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds including students with disabilities
Willingness to examine and remediate one’s instructional, relational, and classroom practices to more effectively engage and support racially minoritized students
Related work and professional experience
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students and staff
Demonstrated ability to work with computers, and other technologies, which are utilized in providing high-quality instruction and support to students
Experience with counseling and advising veterans and their dependents
Experience developing Student Education Plans that meet the requirements of the Veterans Administration
Knowledge of the veteran student experiences and the strategies to ensure retention, persistence, and completion of educational goals
Experience with advising students on the requirements for Associate degrees and Associate Degree for Transfer and general education patterns for both CSU & UC
Experience participating in outreach, recruitment and matriculation activities
Demonstrated understanding of Student Equity and Achievement ( SEA ), Guided Pathways, and/or other student success initiatives
Demonstrated ability to design and implement innovative teaching methodologies
Commitment to interacting and working successfully as a team with instructors, and other colleagues
Enthusiasm for teaching and assisting students to succeed
Capacity to contribute to the total operation of Student Services including Department, Division, and College responsibilities
Demonstrated ability to adapt instructional techniques to accommodate varied learning styles and a variety of teaching modalities including distance learning
Ability to use current educational technology methods and tools
Knowledge and experience in the development and assessment of student learning outcomes
Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing
Memberships in professional organizations
Experience and skill with addressing issues of equity in the classroom
Knowledge of the community college and its mission and goals
