Freedom Detox is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Part-Time Licensed Counselor to join our team in Gastonia, NC. This role is ideal for a clinician passionate about supporting individuals through detox and recovery in a structured, therapeutic setting.

Requirements

  • Education: Master’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Licensure: Active North Carolina licensure required – LCSW(A), LMFT(A), LCMHC(A); LCAS(A) strongly preferred or willingness to obtain.
  • Experience: Previous clinical experience in substance use, trauma, or mental health settings preferred.
  • Strong clinical judgment and counseling skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Crisis intervention and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and accreditation standards relevant to substance use and behavioral health treatment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients and families, addressing behavioral, emotional, cognitive, spiritual, and social needs.
  • Collaborate with the treatment team to develop, monitor, and update individualized treatment plans in line with program standards and accreditation guidelines.
  • Facilitate therapeutic services including individual, family, and group counseling sessions.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in the electronic client record (ECR).
  • Provide documentation and participate in utilization review (UR) processes as required.
  • Support aftercare planning and outcome monitoring for clients.
  • Contribute to program curriculum development, staff training, and literature review in alignment with clinical philosophy.
  • Participate in on-call rotation as assigned.
  • Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment, including effective crisis intervention when needed.
  • Complete all required trainings and comply with program policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
