The Counselor provides counseling to students, and consultation to faculty, staff and the community, through individual, couples, family, group & crisis counseling for the benefit of the campus community. The individual in this position will assess individuals for risk of self-harm, harm to others, diminished capacity, and risk to the campus community. This position collaborates with Counseling Center staff, provides consultation to faculty/staff from outside departments, and conducts outreach and mental health education to the campus community. This position may provide mediation services for students when deemed necessary. This position must maintain appropriate licensures, certifications, and continuing education to maintain a knowledge base of best practices in the field. This position may provide supervision to student interns, as designated by the Counseling Center director. If this position provides supervision to post-master's degree clinicians, the individual must be in compliance with the supervision licensure laws designated by the state of Tennessee.
