About The Position

Santa Rosa Junior College is seeking an individual with demonstrated instructional skills to join an outstanding team of faculty and instructional administrators to provide high quality programs and services to our district, our community, and most importantly, our students. This is a full-time, regular contract position in the Counseling Department at Santa Rosa Junior College, beginning Spring Semester, January 2026. Appointments are contingent upon funding and Board approval. We are seeking equity-minded faculty who are committed to educating our diverse student population. Requirements

  • Master's in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy or marriage, family and child counseling, OR the equivalent.
  • Requires a sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

  • Demonstrated recent academic Counseling experience, particularly in a community college or related setting.
  • Teaching and presentation experience, particularly in a community college or related setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds who have a broad range of academic skills.
  • Experience counseling disproportionately impacted students.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity practices and advocacy.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with students whom English is not their primary language.
  • Demonstrated experience with computer technology, social media, and web-based technology related to academic counseling.
  • Knowledgeable with systems in monitoring student progress.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with initiative.
  • Previous counseling experience working with students in special populations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and monitor programs that address student educational goals and plans.
  • Create curriculum that strengthens the ability of students to complete their academic goals.
  • Teach counseling classes, conduct orientations, lead workshops and seminars.
  • Assist in developing and implementing outreach and retention programs.
  • Maintain currency in the field and update existing courses.
  • Develop new curricula, including courses that serve community needs.
  • Participate in the assessment of student learning outcomes.
  • Engage in community outreach on behalf of the college.

Benefits

  • Salary Range: Yearly Salary of $86,901 - $121,795.
