About The Position

The position of Leading - Campus Professional involves developing and implementing a comprehensive developmental guidance program for all students to promote student success and school completion as specified by law in the Texas Education Code Section 33.005. The role requires respecting student confidentiality and the integrity of the educational process, providing individual student advisory sessions, and engaging students in their postsecondary planning. The counselor will advocate for students, facilitate their educational and career readiness, and maintain accurate professional records of counseling activities.

Requirements

  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Valid Texas Teaching Certification.
  • Valid Texas Counselor Certification.
  • 2 years' classroom teaching experience in a public or accredited private school.

Responsibilities

  • Respects student confidentiality and the integrity of the educational process.
  • Provides individual student advisory sessions and transcript audits.
  • Engages students in developing and completing their postsecondary plans.
  • Schedules students in coherent sequences of courses aligned to their career pathways.
  • Advocates for students and mediates on their behalf.
  • Engages students in personalized education and career awareness activities.
  • Communicates effectively with other professionals regarding student information.
  • Assists students with college, scholarship, and financial aid applications.
  • Provides engaging student guidance lessons systematically.
  • Provides responsive counseling to students needing additional support.
  • Teaches guidance units effectively based on feedback.
  • Maintains accurate professional records of counseling activities.
  • Serves on the Trauma Response Team and completes risk assessments.
  • Responds to students individually and participates in the RtI process.
  • Provides group counseling with specific outcomes and goals.
  • Facilitates student referrals to special programs and services.
  • Engages parents and provides targeted education opportunities.
  • Educates the community about the guidance program and services.
  • Interprets assessment data to students and parents.
  • Participates in campus-wide staff development.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with community agencies.
  • Demonstrates understanding of data-driven decision making.
  • Collaborates on program objectives and monitors progress.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of counseling activities.
  • Observes ethical standards of the Texas and American School Counselor Associations.
  • Pursues continuous professional growth and development.
