Counselor – Inpatient Substance Use Disorder Treatment Location: Newport News, VA Licensure Required: LPC, LCSW, Licensed-Eligible Resident, or CSAC Position Summary As a Counselor, you will play a key role in guiding clients toward lasting recovery. This position involves delivering high-quality clinical services, maintaining accurate documentation, and contributing to a safe, therapeutic, and supportive treatment environment.

Requirements

  • LPC, LCSW, Licensed-Eligible Resident, or CSAC (required)
  • Strong clinical judgment and ability to manage crisis situations effectively
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Develop and review individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary treatment team
  • Facilitate individual therapy, family sessions, and therapeutic group sessions
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation within the EHR system
  • Provide documentation and support for utilization reviews as needed
  • Coordinate care with referral sources and outpatient providers
  • Assist in developing aftercare plans and tracking client outcomes
  • Contribute to curriculum development and participate in staff training initiatives
  • Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment, including crisis intervention when necessary
