About The Position
The Counselor position at Adelphi Plus Learning Community is an hourly role designed to provide mental health and academic assistance to students. This position is structured for a nine-month period, requiring 20 hours of work per week over 39 weeks, from September 1st to May 31st. The successful candidate will engage in both in-person and limited remote counseling sessions, focusing on the mental health needs of students within the Adelphi Plus Learning Community. The role involves collaboration with faculty to enhance the academic experience of students, ensuring they receive the necessary support to navigate their educational challenges. In this role, the counselor will be responsible for delivering individual and group counseling services, utilizing telehealth options as needed. They will assess and address various issues affecting students' mental health, provide crisis counseling, and make referrals to higher levels of care when necessary. The counselor will also maintain clinical documentation through electronic medical record software, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards in mental health practice. Additionally, the counselor will support students academically by offering individualized feedback, skills training, and workshops. They will consult with faculty regarding students' academic performance and recommend policy changes to improve the effectiveness of the Adelphi Plus Learning Community. Participation in recruitment events and regular case conferences with the Student Counseling Center team is also expected. The position may offer the opportunity to supervise practicum students in the future, enhancing the educational experience for both the counselor and the students they mentor.
