About The Position

The Counselor-Future Teacher Program/Summer Learning Academy is for a high school junior/senior or early college student interested in pursuing a career in Teacher. This position works directly with students under the direction of a Lead Teacher and Para to provide high quality and engaging instruction as well as attends various professional development session to learn about the field of Teaching. This position could be located at one of our six campuses offering our Summer Learning Academy (please indicate your choice of location) Our mission at UCP is to empower children with and without disabilities to achieve their potential by providing individualized support, education and therapy services in an inclusive environment. Requirements

Minimum of age 16.
Interest in a career in teaching.
Commitment to learning to effectively work with children with and without disabilities.

Nice To Haves

Prefer experience working with children (i.e. babysitting, volunteering, etc.)

Responsibilities

Attend mandatory pre-summer professional development.
In coordination with the teacher, deliver intentional and engaging academic instruction to students with focus on mitigating school year learning loss/preventing summer learning loss
Provide small group or individual student support.
Help ensure all outcome goals are on track to be met, including academic outcomes and social-emotional skill development outcomes.
Assist with classroom management of students.
Assist and supervise campers in all aspects of self-care, including dressing and undressing, eating, grooming and hygiene, toileting, and any other areas of daily living. If your camper is self-sufficient in these areas, close supervision and monitoring are still required.
Attend professional development sessions.
Other duties as assigned.
