About The Position

The Counselor Emergency Services position at BH Emerg Screening Svcs involves evaluating patients for their level of care, providing counseling, linkage, and follow-up services. The role is crucial in guiding patients and their families from the Emergency evaluation through all levels of care to hospitalization in the State system.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field.
• 2 years clinical experience.
• State of NJ Screening certification (within 6 months of hire).
• Valid Drivers License.

• Experience in a crisis setting.
• Familiar with State of New Jersey Psychiatric and Commitment laws and process.

Responsibilities

• Provides thorough evaluations to patients, including collateral contacts with family and treatment provider(s), both in the Medical Center and the community.
• Provides counseling to patients and their families.
• Collaborates effectively with Emergency Department, Psychiatry, 2 Central, and other HBH/HHS systems staff.
• Interfaces with all acute system of care providers (STCF, State Hospital, ICMS, PACT, etc.) and community providers to facilitate appropriate treatment and case management.
• Provides accurate and timely documentation of all activities.
