About The Position

To inspire and prepare each and every scholar with the confidence, courage and competence to achieve their dreams; contribute to community; and engage in a lifetime of learning. Design and deliver data-driven school counseling services aligned with the district mission and ASCA standards to support scholar success; implement the building College and Career, academics, social-emotional and counseling plan according to district program objectives and priorities; teach and coordinate the delivery of the curriculum; coordinate registration and orientation for scholars when needed; advocate for the individual scholar; participate in planning and teaching of career education; counsel scholars individually and in small groups about personal concerns; maintain contact and communication with guardians/caregivers of scholars; refer scholars and guardians/caregivers to appropriate specialists, special programs and/or community agencies; consult with teachers, staff, and guardians/caregivers regarding needs of individual scholars; participate in, coordinate, and/or conduct activities that contribute to the effective operation of the school; make appropriate and equitable use of instructional resources and technologies; implement the goals and objectives of the district and the school and/or program for which employed; provide in-person, synchronous, and asynchronous learning and services when applicable. Requirements

  • Master's Degree in School Guidance and/or Counseling
  • Licensed by MDE in Elementary and/or K-12 Counseling. and/or authorizes the district to complete an Out of Field Permission request (OFP) request. Additional information can be found at PELSB’s OFP guidelines. and/or meet the Tier 1 PELSB guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Provide services as a memeber of the guidance department staff as outlined in the District Comprehensive Guidance and Counseling Program for students in grades PreK - 5 and specifically to provide services to meet the special needs of his/her assigned case load
  • consult with teachers, staff and parents to enhance their effectiveness in helping students' educational, personal and social-emotional learning programs (Zones of Regulations, Restorative Justice/Circles, etc.)
  • Implement anti-bullying programs (e.g. Second Step), support school wide behavior management, PBIS, and SEL programming
  • other duties assigned by principal
