About The Position

Nelson University seeks a highly qualified adjunct faculty member with a PhD in Counselor Education & Supervision from a CACREP-accredited program to begin teaching in Fall 2027. This position is within the Department of Behavioral Sciences and Community Services. The successful candidate will teach assigned graduate counseling courses in a fully online format and contribute to the continued strength of the counseling curriculum.

Requirements

  • Earned doctoral degree in Counselor Education & Supervision
  • Graduate of a CACREP-accredited program
  • Documented professional counseling/clinical experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to engage students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Commitment to collaboration and program development.
  • Personal faith consistent with Nelson University’s evangelical Christian mission.
  • Active participation in a local church community; Assemblies of God affiliation preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • State licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor
  • Minimum 3 years teaching experience in a college or university setting
  • ABD candidates with a clear timeline toward completion of the terminal degree may be considered.
  • Experience teaching in an online format preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned counseling and counselor education courses beginning Fall 2027.
  • Deliver instruction aligned with CACREP standards where applicable.
  • Integrate Christian faith and professional counseling identity in course engagement.
  • Facilitate applied learning, case analysis, and professional skill development.
  • Provide timely, substantive feedback to students.
  • Submit required course documentation and assessment materials.
