About The Position

Assess a child’s cognitive abilities and administer testing to children using a variety of instruments and techniques that are appropriate for the individual child. Recommend challenging yet achievable cognitive and academic goals for children with different abilities, disabilities, strengths and needs; and develop interventions to achieve these goals. demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work, communicate, and collaborate effectively with families, co-workers, schools and community agencies. Apply sound principles of data-based decision making to all aspects of practice. Ability to drive for satellite clinics, provide trainings and support groups to the community. Provide internal trainings to the staff. Provide trainings and support groups to families, staff, school personnel, therapists and professional organizations. Participate in developing appropriate developmental outcomes and strategies as part of the multidisciplinary team.

Requirements

  • Professionals with one of the following credentials are qualified to provide psychosocial counseling: A Social worker with a masters degree or a Ph.D. in social work from a Certified Social Work Education-accredited school of social work. A Registered nurse with advanced specialized counseling education and training as a clinical nurse specialist or certified psychiatric nurse. A Professional licensed to provide clinical, counseling, and psychotherapy services by the Florida Department of Health, Division of Medical Quality Assurance. A Counselor with a masters degree in counseling. A Psychologist with a masters or Ph.D. in psychology. A Masters or doctoral level graduate student intern from an accredited school of social work or a psychology or counseling program, under the supervision of a licensed practitioner qualified to supervise such interns.
  • Must have active School Psychologist certificate

Nice To Haves

  • 3 to 5 years as a certified School Psychologist.
  • Knowledge of policies and procedures related to the general Education and Exceptional Student Education Services and Eligibility requirements.
  • Knowledge of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEIA)
  • Knowledge of test administration and interpretation
  • Knowledge of behavioral assessment procedures
  • Knowledge of general child development
  • Experience working with children who exhibit learning, behavior, and emotional difficulties.
