About The Position

The Behavioral Health Counselor provides direct client education and counseling services to individuals and groups participating in CCHCI services. This role involves conducting intake assessments, providing individual counseling based on licensure, documenting behavioral health visits, and assisting clients with individualized service planning. The counselor will also provide culturally sensitive therapy modalities, participate in clinical discharge planning, and offer consultation and training to staff about behavioral health services.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in behavioral health or related program.
  • Licensed by the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners as a Substance Abuse Counselor, Professional Counselor, Marriage & Family Therapist, Social Worker, or other appropriate license.
  • Driver's License and Proof of Insurance may be required.
  • Valid Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of experience with patient/client care in a behavioral health setting strongly preferred.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides intake, assessment, and behavioral health services for referred clients.
  • Provides individual counseling services dependent on degree and licensure.
  • Documents and reviews documentation of behavioral health visits.
  • Completes continuing education according to licensing board in a timely manner.
  • Maintains good standing with licensing board and completes renewals timely.
  • Oversees and assists each assigned client with individualized service planning.
  • Provides culturally sensitive therapy modalities and develops new services.
  • Assists in clinical discharge planning and refers clients to alternative services.
  • Provides consultation and training to providers and staff about behavioral health services.
  • Provides reports and utilization management documents to providers and agencies.
  • Participates in Behavioral Health team and quality improvement meetings.
  • Coordinates and facilitates groups to support program goals.
